Black Lives Matter
The International Covenant of Civil and Political Rights is a part of the International Bill of Human Rights. In the Covenant it states equality before law, presumption of innocence, and the protection of minority rights are all human rights. Recently, we have seen the unjust murders of black people by police officers, who were negligent of the rights in the Covenant. There have been so many murders of innocent people such as George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Dustin Parker, Elijah McClain, and Oluwatoyin ‘Toyin’ Salau. People are taking their right of freedom of peaceful assembly and protesting these unjust treatment in hopes of a better future.

Our Declaration of Human Rights declare that “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights,” yet everyday the life of another innocent person of color is taken away. This photo was taken at a Black Lives Matter protest in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. As seen in the Black Lives Matter protests across the globe, the community has come together to fight the oppression of people based on the color of their skin.
