LGBTQIA+ Oppression

LGBTQ+ Oppression has, sadly, been present throughout history. The movements towards equal rights started in the 20th century. In 2012, same-sex marriage became legal. Although some progress has been made, there is still a long way to go until equality is found. Pride month and the pride parades have been going on since 1969 and have since then the support has grown immensely.

Recently, the Trump administration has tried to ban same-sex couples from adopting and also tried to argue that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, which bans discrimination based on gender, does not include claims of sexual orientation and gender identity. The Supreme Court ruled that federal civil rights protects LGBTQ workers.
